Battle Log #10 – Headwinds and Turbulence

Ville pulled a classic entrepreneur move: “These two proposals are so huge and such a sure thing that if even one of them closes, my entire workload for the quarter is set.” ==> Foot off the gas pedal on sales.

Well, you can probably guess how a story like that ends: Knocked out on both fronts, 60% of the pipeline wiped out in one fell swoop, and there I am, scratching my head wondering how the hell that just happened.

The crisis isn’t quite as dramatic as the thumbnail makes it out to be, though. Instead, this fired me up, I threw the fighter jet into turbo mode, and chased the pipeline back to a healthy level. I shit you not, it actually turned out that I landed a nice new client juuuust as I started writing this post 🎉

The lesson is as old as time: Practice what you preach, keep selling even when your pipeline looks great, don’t stake everything on a couple of big deals, and trust the process.
