Battle Log #8 – Q1 Recap
Our 80s action hero has been flying under the radar, on the radar, and above the radar for a full three months now — or a quarter, as the corporate world likes to package these neat little units of capitalism.
“Live hard, die young” didn’t quite apply to this pilot, though.
No blaze of glory—just a clean and honorable completion of the first quarter of entrepreneurship.
I wrapped the whole thing into a YouTube video—link in the underworld.
Figured that since it feels more natural for me to talk in a longer format rather than chop everything into dopamine-deficient algorithm bait… why not just do that.
So grab a coffee and tune in whenever it suits you—Ville’s full quarterly debrief, a grand 16 minutes.
But since writing is fun too, here’s the first three months of the mission, broken down into sharp lists:
Clients
★ 4 clients served
★ All based in Finland
★ 50% operating internationally
★ Zero dickheads
Costs & Revenue
★ Costs held steady at €321/month (will increase next quarter with salary, YEL, and prepayments)
★ Revenue: €15,730 ⇒ €5,243/month on average
★ Current pipeline: €55,720
★ Cash in bank: €9,772
★ No salary paid yet (first one scheduled for June)
Mission Successes
★ The first quarter got off to a surprisingly strong start right from month one—balancing both client work and building the business
★ Month two introduced semi-systematic sales and CRM into the mix
★ Month three ramped up properly as client work picked up
★ Every single client has been great—one of the perks of entrepreneurship is choosing who you work with
★ Daily routines are falling into place (and yes, pants have been worn—including sales pants)
★ Fridays mostly remain free
★ The fighter jet is cruising far from corporate chaos
★ Entrepreneurship suits our hero very well
★ You really can design your working life your own way—once you understand the rules of the game and adapt them to fit
Turbulence
★ Sales pants haven’t been tight enough—prospecting needs a serious upgrade next quarter
★ Too much comfort mode—focusing on fun client work over sales
★ As a result, next quarter’s order backlog is still quite thin
★ Plenty of interesting client cases utilizing senior-level marketing skills—but still no pure Fractional CMO missions logged
★ Would be nice to start paying a salary already (soon)
Final words:
Entrepreneurship is fun.
Haters hate.
The caravan moves on.
And V-Lance keeps rolling (flying) forward.
Ville & V-Lance—over and out.
